Who is behind BookDiscovery?
BookDiscovery was founded by a team of book lovers who wanted to bring the joy of a really good recommendation back to online shopping. Based in Ireland, we’re an independent store that champions great writing, Irish authors, and a more personal way of finding your next read.
Our Story
BookDiscovery started with a late-night conversation between two friends who were tired of algorithm-driven book recommendations that led to the same ten bestsellers. We missed the feeling of walking into a real bookshop where every shelf held a surprise. So in 2024, we launched BookDiscovery — an online bookstore where curiosity comes first.
Founder Alex Byrne studied English Literature at SETU and spent years volunteering at local libraries. That experience made one thing clear: readers don’t need more choice; they need better discovery. Our catalogue is deliberately curated, reflecting a wide range of voices, genres, and hidden gems.
